PANEL: Faculty Entrepreneurs: Interfacing with Industry while in Academia

Hear the perspectives of current faculty who are start-up founders and scientific advisors. Speakers will provide advice for trainees who want to think strategically about their careers as future faculty, and learn how to evaluate different institutions for support of industry/academic interface.  Panelists include:

  • David Schaffer, PhD, Hubbard Howe Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Bioengineering, and Molecular and Cell Biology. Director of QB3-Berkeley and Deputy Director of Bakar Labs, UC Berkeley. Co-founder of 6 companies including 4D Molecular Therapeutics (NASDAQ FDMT), Ignite Immunotherapies, and Axent Biosciences.
  • Jennifer Elisseeff, PhD, Morton Goldberg Professor and Director of the Translational Tissue Engineering Center, Johns Hopkins.  Founder of Cartilix, Aegeria and advisor to multiple biotech small and large companies.
  • Tatiana Segura, PhD, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Neurology, and Dermatology, Duke University. Founder and Scientific Advisor for Tempo Therapeutics (also, Cal alum)
