General Submission Instructions & Terms of Service

All submissions should be made through our submission portal. See instructions, here.

Contact us for approval before sending samples that

  • are potentially biohazardous, radioactive, or otherwise hazardous
  • originate from archaeological samples in the Americas, such as Native American remains or faunal remains
  • are clinical in origin

Queue

Samples are processed in a generally first-come-first-served basis, though many factors affect our prioritization, such as finding lane partners and increased efficiencies of parallelization. The date of submission is when we receive samples or when the submission is finalized on our submission portal, whichever comes latest. Partners who loan or gift equipment to us are given priority on that equipment.

Sample and Data Retention & Return

If return of samples is requested, we will attempt to contact users twice by email to arrange pickup or delivery, after which the samples will be deemed forfeit. If delivery is required, users are required to pay the shipping fee.

We generally hold samples for several months following project completion, but do not guarantee sample retention past project completion.

QC data will be returned via email, and users will be notified of the availability of sequencing data via email. Sequencing data will be returned via secure encrypted FTP from our server, Globus, or for very large projects on hard disk drives through courier.

Sequencing data is retained on our backup server for 5 years. We charge a 10 hour labor fee for data retrieval after 3 months post completion.
