Do you want to explore PhD career paths and narrow down options as quickly as possible? Do you want to try out real job tasks in different fields/roles all while staying in your lab, or at home?

Thi Nguyen, PhD, founder and developer of InterSECT job simulations will lead an interactive workshop: a great way to explore your career options is to try out real job tasks. Job simulations can help you explore PhD career paths, narrow down options, and make informed career choices. The job sims are vetted by professionals with career expertise – the projects are true-to-task. Try out careers in:

  • Business
  • Higher Ed Administration
  • Writing & Publishing
  • Organizational Management
  • Policy & Advocacy
  • … and more

Dr. Thi Nguyen co-created the innovative InterSECT online career tool in 2017. She is a career coach, neuroscientist, freelance consultant and practices inclusive learning principles.  She has a PhD in Neuroscience from UT Southwestern Medical Center and completed postdoctoral research at the Gladstone Institutes in San Francisco.

Not sure if the program’s for you? This is feedback from a STEM doctoral student who participated in Thi’s workshop on campus last year:  “Thi is an engaging presenter and the job sims are a fantastic resource. I’ve found all the QB3 professional development workshops to be informative and useful, but this was my favorite by far. It’s such a unique resource, and not something I would have stumbled on anywhere else. Honestly, I would recommend offering this workshop at least once a year.”
