The Biomek NXP is an eight probe liquid handling robot. Each of the probes operates on a separate 1mL syringe making it extremely useful for mixing our custom crystal reagent screens.
The Biomek 3000 is a liquid handling robot. The machine is equiped with 5 tip-tools able to use 20uL (1 or 8 probes), 200uL (1 or 8 probes) or 1mL (1 probe) tip sizes. It also has a gripper tool that can move plates around the deck. It has 2 peltier units on the left side and a micromix unit on the right. It is a workhorse, able to set-up PCRs, transform cells, inoculate plates, and perform magnetic nickel bead pull-down assays.
The Biomek 2000 is the older version of the 3000. Although programming is not nearly as robust as the new model, it still works great and is perfect for methods that require less adjustments like plasmid preps and pcr clean-ups. This machine is equiped with a vacuum manifold for these applications.
The Caliper GX2 is a microfluidic gel running system for both DNA and protein samples. It automatically runs samples from a 96-well plate in series at about 30 seconds per sample.
The Avestin C3 homogenizer is a nice way to crack open your cells, especially when you have larger volumes. It is much quieter (almost silent) than the older style microfluidizers.
The two AKTA Explorer 100s are FPLC systems with many automation capabilities. An 8-port injection valve with a sample pump, as well as a multitude of buffer inlets make it a great machine for scouting chromatography media and conditions.
The AKTAxpress 4-pack is a high throughput FPLC. By using a storage loop to collect peak fractions it can run a sample over multiple columns without user intervention. Each machine can put numerous samples over multiple columns in series and the 4 machines can run in parallel. The machine is very useful when you have multiple samples that require the same purification strategy.
