The mission of the QB3 Computational Genomics Resource Laboratory (CGRL) is to serve as a focal point for scientists interested in comprehensive analysis of next generation sequencing data. The CGRL aims to provide
- Computational infrastructure for data analysis
- Training in analytical tools for next-generation sequence data
- Project-specific consultation on experiment design and analysis
To equip campus researchers with state-of-the art tools and knowledge on evolving trends in computational biology and bioinformatics, the CGRL organizes seminars by leading experts in the field. In addition, there are workshops on specific methods and topics given by experts in the subject. The CGRL will also make efforts to provide one-on-one consultation on specific projects.
In addition, CGRL coordinates with the existing QB3 next-generation sequencing core facilities Vincent J. Coates Genomics Sequencing Laboratory (GSL) and the Functional Genomics Laboratory (FGL) to keep ahead of new developments. Users of these sequencing facilities will have the option of seamlessly transferring data and carrying out secondary and tertiary analysis of their data utilizing the CGRL computing infrastructure.
The CGRL is directed by UC Berkeley Professors Brian Staskawicz, John Taylor, and Rasmus Nielsen and is located in 238 Koshland Hall, UC Berkeley. Day-to-day operations are managed by Jason Huff.
